What is spiritual direction?
Christian spiritual directors help people find God in every relationship, in the midst of ordinary and extraordinary life. The truth of our lives and our relationship with God comes to life not by being explained, but by being gently drawn out through deep listening in normal conversations. Christian spiritual directors help people discern God’s active presence and call in their lives, letting divine reality unfold rather than just seeking answers.
How does this work?
I’m a member of the London Centre for Spiritual Direction in the UK where I offer 1:1 spiritual direction online. For our informal conversations we meet on Zoom or Teams. Spiritual direction usually last about an hour per conversation. To start with I offer a no obligation introductory conversation for £25 to explore your needs, it’s an opportunity to meet one another and for us to decide if I’m the right spiritual director for you (there are many good people in this ministry). There are no time commitments. Perhaps one or two conversations could be what you want or a number of short / long term conversations might suit you. The spiritual direction practice that I offer is non profit.

Hello I’m Andy Maitland, in 2002/3/6 I trained as a spiritual director under Dr. Larry Crabb (see links below) in the US. Crabb was a psychologist, author, spiritual director. He served as Distinguished Scholar in Residence at Colorado Christian University, and spiritual director for the American Association of Christian Counselors. Larry was also an accomplished and a hilarious Elvis impersonator!
I’m also a practicing artist in the UK who has worked with companies such as Apple, the London Symphony Orchestra and the V&A. I live and have lived in this world for years, so paradoxically I’m quite at home in conversation with creative thinkers whilst permanently accompanied by a healthy sense of inadequacy when listening for God in Christians lives.
I’m married, my wife is a healthcare professional. I have a business background in graphic design/marketing. I’m highly imaginative, creative and a deep thinker. I like people and I’ve lived abroad.
